Reuters over Yahoo! in photos
The first slide show i found is in Yahoo! News Photos entitled Iraq in Photos. This is an in depth coverage of what is probably every photo they have in recent Iraqi events. With over 300 pictures it seems as though some of them may have not even been looked at by the Yahoo! photos people with many appearing very similar. This Slide show could have been cut down into sub topics like the Sadaam Hussein trial, new Iraqi politics, the ongoing battle against insurgency, and probably a few more.
Upon a closer look of this slide show, it can be seen that each chain of photos is linked on its own to other articles revealing that this is more of a deposit of photos than a topic specific slide show, still I feel that Yahoo! should make it easier to find the breaks by providing obvious sub-topics in the slide show menu.
Reuters did a much better job of assembling a story in pictures with their coverage of a Hair Colorisg Splash in Tokyo. Granted this topic is certainly easier to cover with pictures than the entire nation of Iraq, but Reuters did an equally good job with their picture story of Violence in territories of Palestine.
Reuters does what Yahoo! does not, they tell the story that needs to be told with a brief, concise series of photos. The Reuters photo stories do not easily let your attention drift the way a Yahoo! photo story does.
