Let me tell you. That's not fair!!! I want to be able to do better, but you are using something to be better than me!

That is the argument against steroids as i see it. I have one question though, what about gatorade? This article from Mercury news seems to focus on how unfair it is that Barry Bonds is going to pass Babe Ruth's carreer home run mark, and will probably pass Hank Aaron's if Barry Bonds used performance enhancers known as steroids. They argue that Bonds is cheating by using steroids, if it is true that he did.

But I ask again, what about Gatorade? Gatorade is an unnatural substance formulated to allow the body to better endure athletic activities, the researchers at Gatorade brag all the time about how they have proven it enhances performance.

They even get to use the same words, just reversed.

I would also like to bring into question in regards to fairness the knowledge we currently have of the human physiology that was not prevelant at the time of Ruth and Aaron, athletes today know specificly how to work each muscle out to create the desired effect, be it better bat speed or more power. In the times of Aaron and Ruth this kind of knowledge was not at all available.

This Knowledge is deemed fair, and so is the Gatorade, and so are a whole list of supplements that athletes today take which were also unavailable. No one argues that contact lenses or LASIK eye surgery are an unfair advantage because it reduces glair and perephial vision or because LASIK eye surgery increases your actual vision to beyond normal.

So what then, is the big deal? The argument then gets shifted to health, steroids are bad for you, it severely shortens your life. Even accepting this as true (because I am having trouble finding adequate resources on responsible steroid use) what about being a catcher? Catchers lose their knees very young, developing arthritis, or allow me to shift the argument to football.

Professional football is known to decrease your lifespan not merely because of the weight one must put on be sucessful but also because of the ammount of trauma the body takes from being hit so hard. Boxers are hit in the face repetedly, but no one seems to mind those kind of health risks.

I don't like steroids either, but i don't know why. And because i do not know why i am unready to ban anyone from the recordbooks for using them, i also want those asterisks removed, there is too much of that "back in my day" stuff going on. The sports world is changing, accept it and try to understand it before you judge it as wrong.

"We think Keira is the perfect Coco Mademoiselle woman because she is always incredibly alluring and seductive…What makes Keira exceptional is that she shows strength and independence through the film roles she chooses to play," said Dagousset.

Ok, Keira does play strong roles and has established herself authoritively in roles like the fearless-bounty-hunter Domino Harvey in, Domino, The terribly-stubborn Elizabeth 'Lizzie' Bennet in Pride and Prejudice and of course that pirate-loving Elizabeth Swan in Pirates of the Carribean, but, i have to say, how strong can you make a fragrance called "Coco Mademoiselle."

PR does make a big difference, but how much can be done to change the image of a fragrance once aligned to the face of Kate-modleing-since-fourteen-Moss?

Keira, godbless and goodluck with that crazy job of lending your strength to a fragrance marked by passive femininity. My best bet goes to Ms. Knightley's strong-girl persona being dragged down to a more feminine and aristotic standpoint.

Congresswoman Hilary Rodham-Clinton has initiated a Senate comittee hearing to discuss the dangers of video-games and new media. The Comittee met in open session and proceeded to hear arguments about the pros and cons of video games and what should be done about it.

Most notable of appearances to me is that of Rev. Steve Stricland who appeared under the pannel called "Science and Effects." This is despite the fact he is a Reverand, not a scientist. But he can provide accounts of the effects of video games, according to him. His brother was shot while on duty as a police officer with his own weapon by a teen. According to Rev. Stricland, it is because of Grand Theft Auto:Vice City, that this teen was able to remove the pistol from an officer and shoot two officers down.

Stricland said the video game "[taught the teen] how to do this." Stricland said all of this to the Senate Subcomittee for judicial affairs on March 29. Stricland had never heard of the game before the shooting, and he had never cared much about video games, it is only after the teen made a similie to video games about death that Stricland saw a smoking gun in Rockstar Games' hands.

Why is the senate listening to Stricland, hes not an expert, hes the brother of a dead cop, there is no evidence in the situation that the game allowed the teen to murder, no evidence that the teen would not have done this without playing.

"This is the violent video game world — a world that, as far as I am concerned, is straight from the pits of Hell." Those are the words of Rev. Stricland, what he chose to say before a Senate comittee, wise-up America, stop finding people to blame the industries you want to destroy.

Well it wasn’t exactly Wile E. Coyote, this coyote goes by the name Hal, and it was Amtrack, not Acme that led him to his troubles.

Hal the Coyote found his way into central park on Saturday from Westchester by crossing an Amtrack bridge over the Hudson, according to a NY Times article today. It was brought down by the NYPD Emergency Services tday.

It will be taken to a Wild-Life refuge rehabilitation center in upstate New York, according to the Times.

The Coyote has been seen many times but has never attacked anyone or their pets, to whom Hal posed the biggest threat, according to Police Officials.

This story is an example of hailing the NYPD for their excellent work in stopping trouble that could have been.

Trouble that could have been? Coytes seem dangerous, but honestly, there is a reason Wiley never caught that roadrunner; if we compare wildlife to software, the wolf is coyote.2. What I am saying here, is that the coyote is pretty much harmless. It has a diet consisting of rabits, and mice, (according to wikipedia) not exactly something suiting for an “emergency service.”
The real emergency here is that NYC officials do not want a pack (that is a myth, coyotes usually travel in 2s or 3s, wolves travel in packs) of coyotes jumping about howling out loud driving park-side property values down. True, coyotes could eventually pose a threat to humans, but wild dogs hurt more, and you won’t see a news report hailing the success of the 2 officers taking him down.

Don’t make a mountain out of a mole hill.

The first slide show i found is in Yahoo! News Photos entitled Iraq in Photos. This is an in depth coverage of what is probably every photo they have in recent Iraqi events. With over 300 pictures it seems as though some of them may have not even been looked at by the Yahoo! photos people with many appearing very similar. This Slide show could have been cut down into sub topics like the Sadaam Hussein trial, new Iraqi politics, the ongoing battle against insurgency, and probably a few more.

Upon a closer look of this slide show, it can be seen that each chain of photos is linked on its own to other articles revealing that this is more of a deposit of photos than a topic specific slide show, still I feel that Yahoo! should make it easier to find the breaks by providing obvious sub-topics in the slide show menu.

Reuters did a much better job of assembling a story in pictures with their coverage of a Hair Colorisg Splash in Tokyo. Granted this topic is certainly easier to cover with pictures than the entire nation of Iraq, but Reuters did an equally good job with their picture story of Violence in territories of Palestine.

Reuters does what Yahoo! does not, they tell the story that needs to be told with a brief, concise series of photos. The Reuters photo stories do not easily let your attention drift the way a Yahoo! photo story does.

Justin Fox, the writer, blows by all of the standard ways in which the nation evaluates energy independence and focousses on being strictly economical. He does not however evaluate the cost of war to protect our interest in oil. If we put our money into developing new technology we can stop putting our money into fighting wars, invading the middle east and play hard ball with countries that have us by the balls hard.

The area is rich with life that man has never before seen, the indigenous people of the area claim to have never ventured into that area of the jungle.

A team of 25 researchers charged into the area cutting a path into the mysterious unscathed area.

The researchers expect scores of new species to be found in this Rhode Island sized area.

Isn’t this great, we have a whole new area to exploit, excuse me I mean explore, or do I? Is it so important to venture into this place? What are we going to find that is worth corrupting this one place that people have yet to go? It is not even that scientists have yet to go there, but even the people of the area never went in. All we are going to get is one more picture of another bird, another kangaroo and another 20 bugs to throw into a zoology textbook, sure it’s kind of cool to name something after yourself Mr. Scientist, but just let it go for once.

The staff of US Representitive Marty Meehan has been editing the content found on the wikipedia site about him, according to an article in the Lowell Sun. The issue has risen a heated debate on the Wikipedia site, known for its open editing feature, and raises an interesting question about what rights a politician has on this new media of open internet encyclopedias. Wikipedia has responded by blocking the congressional IP adresses from making revisions until this issue can be resolved.
On the one hand, his staff is merely participating in the forum created by Wikipedia and is simply trying to keep the site free of bias. On the other hand it seems that they are breaking the rules and guidelines created to maintain a Neutral Point of View and Civility.

I find it absurd that members of congress would attempt to censor a website with such a keen eyed community such as Wikipedia, as an active participant in the project I find it insulting to believe that anyone would assume that such blatent and constant editing would make its way unnoticed, and unchallenged. The staff of Marty Meehan made a bad choice from a PR point of view by creating this turmoil. It may not be official censoring and may not be a crime but it does show the kind of office Meehan runs and the kind of people he is surrounding himself with.
